Built is 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the second oldest automobile racing track and largest sports stadium in the world. It is home to the Indianapolis 500, the United States Grand Prix and the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. The "Brickyard" nickname came from the original paving stone used on the 2 1/2 mile track. Over the years the track and stadium have been remodeled many times to accommodate new racing conditions and ever increasing popularity.
Notable IMS landmarks normally accessible only to officials, drivers and teams during events, such as the timing-and-scoring suite in the Bombardier Pagoda, the Media Center, Victory Podium, Gasoline Alley garage area and the world-famous "Yard of Bricks,” are part of the Grounds Tour. Guests also will tour the Hall of Fame Museum and enjoy a ride around the famed 2.5-mile IMS oval in one of the Museum’s comfortable tour buses, culminating with an opportunity to stop at the "Yard of Bricks” and pose for photographs.
