Come Experience Lime Island

Get back to the simple pleasures in life.sit atop a bluff overlooking the St. Mary's River and watch the large freighters pass.head inland on the many trails that lace the Island. Fishing can be enjoyed from shore or water and a beach is within close proximity. All this and more is offered to Lime Island Cottage and Camping Platform guests.

Rustics Accommodations

Lime Island Cottages have 2-3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to eight individuals. Water and portable restrooms are conveniently located nearby. Each cottage has limited electrical capabilities and lighting produced by solar panels that are located in the roof.

Guests should provide all basic necessities including (but not limited to) a light source, first aid kit, cooking equipment, warm clothing, and sleeping bags. The cottages are barrier free.

Camping

Tent camping is also available. Wooden platforms located 400 feet from the docks are used as tent bases to reduce impacts on the surrounding environment. Additional platforms are located on the southeast side of the Island and are accessible by water or a 2.2 mile trail from the harbor. Non-platform camping is available up on the hill or on grass in a designated site.

Getting to the Island is Fun!

Visitors to the Island must charter or navigate a boat 3.0 miles across the St. Mary's River.Vehicle parking is available inland at Raber. Use of a non-motorized boat to reach the island is NOT recommended.

Lime Island Season

Cottages and tent camping sites are available from Memorial Day weekend through mid-September.A weekend cottage reservation is a minimum stay of 2 nights.A maximum stay of 15 nights is allowed for both cottages and camping unless permission is granted for a longer stay.

There are NO reservations for tent camping.Camping platforms are on a first come, first serve basis.Group camping is available after receiving a reservation permit from the Sault Ste. Marie Forest Management Unit.

Fees and Reservations

Cottages:

$45.00 per night

$250.00 per week (Friday 2:00pm - Friday Noon)

Camping: $10.00 per night/per site

Refunds:

If a cancellation occurs 30 days or more prior to arrival, a refund will be given, less a 20% processing fee.If cancellation is less than 30 days before arrival, 50% of the total fee will be refunded. If cancellation is 14 days or less prior to arrival, no refund will be given.If you reschedule a date, any refunded amount from your cancellation will be applied to your new reservation.No refund is made for inclement weather conditions or if evicted for violation of State Forest Rules and Regulations.

Keep in Mind.

All reservation dates are tentative until the completed, signed permit and fee are received within ten days of your reservation.On receipt of your permit and fee, your reservation is guaranteed. A reservation confirmation will be sent to you and must be presented at time of check-in. A short (1/8 mile) hike to the cottages awaits visitors after docking. If bad weather extends your stay on Lime Island beyond your planned duration, you will be accommodated on the Island.

Lime Island is populated with Black Bear, so take extra precaution by securing food.Pets are allowed on the Island, but not in the buildings. Pets must be on a 6 foot leash or shorter and under owner's control at all times. It is the owner's responsibility to clean up after their pets.

No public use of motorized vehicles is allowed on the Island.
