Day 1 - Welcome to Michigan
The innovative spirit and the charm of Michigan make the state a most interesting and enjoyable place to visit. Tour departs: Grand Rapids (Kent County) Airport at 3:00 PM. Your Michigan tour begins with a visit to the Gerald R. Ford Museum en route to your hotel. Join us and meet your fellow travelers at our welcome reception and dinner this evening.

Day 2 - Lake Michigan’s Impressive Dunes
The western coast of Michigan is known for its miles of beautiful sandy beaches and for having the world’s largest collection of freshwater sand dunes, some of which are 300 feet high. Enjoy a ride on these amazing sand mountains in a specially equipped vehicle. After lunch and a visit to the eclectic Music House Museum, journey on to lovely Bay Harbor, scenically situated on Little Traverse Bay.

Day 3 - The Upper Peninsula and Sault Ste. Marie
During this Michigan tour, visit Fort Michilamackinac to experience a faithful recreation of life in this fort built by the French in 1715. Cross the Straits of Mackinac on the five-mile-long Mighty Mack bridge and enter the world of the Upper Peninsula. From your hotel, view the Great Lakes shipping traffic coming and going through the fascinating Soo Locks.

Day 4 - Explore the UP of Michigan
As your Michigan tour continues, journey across the Upper Peninsula to Tahquamenon Falls, the second-largest waterfall east of the Mississippi, and the land of Longfellow’s Haiwatha. Board a ferry at St. Ignace and travel back in time to fabled Mackinac Island. Spend the next two nights at the island’s historic and magnificent Grand Hotel.

Day 5 - Magical Mackinac Island
This tiny treasure remains much as it was when the first Europeans settled the island centuries ago. Travel here is powered by foot, by bicycle or by horse because motorized vehicles are not permitted on the island. A morning sightseeing tour by horse-drawn carriage reveals all that is magical about Mackinac Island.

Day 6 - A Bavarian-style Village and Michigan’s Industrial Might
The charming village of Frankenmuth refers to itself as Michigan’s Little Bavaria. There are numerous attractions and quaint shops to discover during an after-lunch stroll. En route to Dearborn, see for yourself why Michigan is nationally regarded as a booming manufacturing state.

Day 7 - The Wonders of The Henry Ford
There is much to explore at the five historic attractions comprising The Henry Ford. Learn of Michigan’s innovations and inventions that propelled America into the industrial age and see the homes and workshops of such legendary innovators as Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, the Wright Brothers and Thomas Edison. Take a walk though history and lifestyles of the past in Greenfield Village. Join us this evening for a farewell reception and dinner.

Day 8 - Journey Home
We wish you a safe and pleasant journey home after your Michigan tour ends: Detroit Metropolitan Airport at 9:00 AM. If your flight home leaves later in the day, your Tauck Director can arrange an airport transfer for you.
