Port Huron, Michigan Travel Guide

Complete Vacation, Recreation and Tourism Information

Port Huron is a small city of about 32,000 residents located on Michigan's central eastern border. It is one of the oldest cities in Michigan and is considered the "Maritime Capital of the Great Lakes."

The birthplace of Thomas Edison, a park in honor of Port Huron's famous resident is located under the Blue Water Bridge. Most of the notable attractions in this city are linked to the water, from the lighthouses and ship watching to the marina races. Fort Gratiot Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in the state and is located just north of the Blue Water Bridge. Built in 1829, the lighthouse still flashes warnings to mariners in the lake.

Port Huron has an art and history museum, depicting the history of the area, and also offers guided tours of historical ships like the Huron Lightship and the Huron Lady. A visit to Port Huron's downtown district could include riverfront dining, a trip to the museum, shopping along its quaint streets, or a historic trolley tour.

Port Huron is located along the central eastern border of Michigan at the southern base of Lake Huron.
