Marquette Michigan Travel Information
Marquette is a small town of around 23,000 residents, and is home to Northern Michigan University. Though small in population, Marquette is the largest town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Close to a number of outdoor recreation destinations, Marquette is a spot for visitors seeking a bit of rugged activity. In the downtown district of Marquette, you’ll find a handful of bookstores, gift shops, local history museums and restaurants. The Marquette County Historical Museum features Native American exhibits and artifacts of the region. Presque Isle State Park is just north of Marquette, and offers over 300 acres of land for biking and skiing its mountains and trails. Marquette Mountain has a 600 foot vertical drop and is a notable slope for skiers and snowboarders. Marquette is located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the northern central region. It sits along Lake Superior and is slightly east of Ishpeming and Negaunee.
